DOA Hybrid V dub
Its too bad this never panned out. The VW Turbo-Diesel Electric Hybrid Golf had tech specs that looked to beat the Prius on all fronts. The VW boasted 69 mpg and lower CO2 emissions than the Prius. The VW appeared to be more fun to drive because instead of going with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) the Germans planned to opt for the direct shift gearbox (DSG) with a twin clutch. This means that the driver had the option of more control over the shifting in a semi-automatic mode. Although it debuted months ago at the Geneva Motor Show it won’t be built. After the excitement swelled around this, VW announced that the cost would be too great to mass produce. Keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed in hopes of a revised version for the future.

That was one of the cars I was most forward looking to, in terms of Hybrids.
I also hope that there will be an altered version of this one in the future. Along with that, I’m also hoping for a Hybrid that has a different look than all the others that are currently out there.
Total bummer. This would have made for a sweet ride.
